2nd Quarter Missions Project:
Lucille Raines Residence

Image and information below are from the Lucille Raines Residence website: http://www.gbgm-umc.org/lucilleraines/

Lucille Raines Residence is a facility owned and operated by Indiana Area United Methodist Women. Many of the men and women, who are residents, are actively engaged in rebuilding their lives from substance abuse. They all share in learning to function independently and as whole people in life. Many are finding Christ to be the source of successful recovery.

How are the Costs of Living at Lucille Raines Residence Covered? Rent received from those living at Lucille Raines Residence provides approximately half the cost of the program. United Methodist Women in Indiana provide monthly support. Additional funds are received through Conference Advance Specials. United Methodists can give to Lucille Raines Residence through their congregation or directly to the Residence, which is a 501 (c) 3 corporation; all contributions are tax deductible.

The basis of the self-help program is a daily inventory of defects in character and the sharing of these defects with another person. It is suggested that a part of each day be set aside for meditation and prayer -- the end result being that one learns to turn his/her life over to God day-by-day. The support that grows out of the sharing forms the community that is the backbone of the program and becomes the strength which enables recovery to occur.
